ST. FERDINAND SCHOOL BOARD EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
6:30 - Opened with a prayer.
Open Forum: None. Pastor’s Report:
- St. Ferdinand School has a parent who is from Haiti, and Father Jack is organizing with the school and parish to collect donations for her family in Haiti. Multiple fundraisers are being planned.
- The parish budget was discussed in relation to the parishoner vs non-parishoner tuition. A proposal was made to have non-parishoners pay the parishoner rate, as this will be more welcoming to all neighbors.
- Blessed Teresa of Calcutta received the requested pledges and will stay open.
- Lighting will be replaced in all classrooms, and will be more efficient. The boilers were inspected and tuned at no cost. Ameren UE has a program to pay a percentage of the cost of an electrical audit.
- Northeast Deanery Initiative on Continuing Excellence in Catholic Education:
- Work began to fill the new deanery Development Position.
- All principals are meeting to collaborate where beneficial.
Principal’s Report:
- Handout reviewed: 2009/2010 Tuition Report, Request for Registration Tally, ITBS Standardized Test results
- Discussed the progress of the Spanish program
- Matching Gift Accounts – Total contributions and matching received – St. Ferdinand $42,813.50; St. Martin De Porres $12,590.00.
- Registration dates: Forms sent home on February 5; due from current families on February 19; new family registration begins on February 22.
- Highlighted Catholic Schools Week activities
- Together We are Better was discussed, as the Archdiocese published an IRS review showing a percentage of contributions can legally be deducted from tuition. The TWB program will be reviewed by the Parish Finance Committee.
Finance Committee: None.
Policy Committee: Discussed the absence of bylaws for the School Board. Corinne Johnson, the committee chair, will research the formation of bylaws.
Discussed term limits for St. Martin De Porres school board representatives.
Public Relations / Marketing Committee: Mrs. Mirsov was asked to chair this committee and is meeting with three past committee members.

- Future agenda item: Produce School Board bylaws.
- Review St. Sabina committee’s list of St. Ferdinand disadvantages in more detail.
