School Board Meeting Minutes:
Minutes from the April 2008 meeting.

ST. FERDINAND SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES

April 14, 2008

6:00 Opened with prayer; minutes approved with change in market research funding from $4000 to $2000 this year and $2000 next year

 

OPEN FORUM: None

 

PASTOR’S REPORT:

· Recent deanery meeting was held about marketing

 

PSR REPORT:

· PSR will be canceled on the 28th due to Confirmation services

· Registration will take place on Monday evenings during the summer

· Sign-up for working the parish picnic was placed out for parents

· 2 more classes until the end of this school year

 

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:

· Monthly tuition tracking report was reviewed

· We will offer Option 3 families the option of making an initial down payment and then have lower monthly payments; announcement will be made in the Connection newsletter

· A tuition assistance person from St. Martin will take over for previous person

· Our matching gift balance is $29, 627.21; almost $23,000 of this is discretionary money and will go toward technology upgrades

· Currently we are 12 students above our budgeted number; some money will then go back toward the parish subsidy

· Kindergarten and 3rd grade will have a teacher’s aide unless enrollment numbers change

· Whiteboards have been purchased for the science lab and the primary multipurpose room

· Calendar was approved for 2008-2009

· Principal shared ideas to promote team spirit among students

· The faculty is currently reviewing uniform and discipline policies

· Discussion was held regarding the use of the display case in the foyer of the school

 

POLICY:

· Tardiness will be taken out of the discipline policy

· The discipline policy will be typed up for the May meeting

 

FINANCE: None

MARKETING:

· Hamburger Helper grant winners will be announced on May 15

· Committee discussed publicity for Field Day

· Hazelwood has a new resident guide

· Virtual tour still needs to be finished

· Ideas to keep preschool parents involved were discussed

· A table with brochures will be made available at the parish picnic

· The Archdiocese has been promoting Catholic schools with radio spots and billboards; we were given a banner to hang

NEW BUSINESS:

  • We have 3 possible nominees for School Board; it is possible that an election will not be necessary since there are only 3 positions available

 

Next Regularly Scheduled Meeting: Monday, May 12, 2008 at 6 pm in the teacher’s lounge
