ST. FERDINAND SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
September 10, 2007
6:00 Opened with prayer. Minutes approved.
OPEN FORUM: None
PASTOR’S REPORT:
- Drainage problem correction is underway
- School parent is still setting a date to install security system for main building
- Back to school BBQ went well
PSR REPORT:
- Students are still registering but enrollment is down approximately 80 students from last year
- The Right Start program for 8th graders will start soon; St. Sabina 8th grade PSR students will be joining us
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
- We were only short $1,600 in tuition payments for last year; School secretary has done a nice job of monitoring this; the monthly statements seem to help and eventually we may switch to e-mail for statements to save on postage but only when requested
- The 2007-2008 budget was reviewed
- Matching gift balance is $36,844.25; we had $15,000 in our budget for St. Ferdinand families
- School Improvement Process meetings will take place on September 17th, 24th, and October 1st and 15th; school profile will be reviewed and three committees will write a document on how we are doing in the areas of Catholic Identity, Institutional Issues, and Educational Issues; this document will include a 5 year plan of growth
- Elective course packets were given out for review and packets will go home with students on Wednesday; program will be open to 5th-8th grade students
FINANCE: None
POLICIES:
- We need to decide on a policy for forwarding records of eighth graders in November if tuition payments have not been made
MARKETING:
- New parent has volunteered for the committee
- Next meeting will be held at 6pm on September 17th.
OLD BUSINESS:
- The Back to School BBQ went well; we purchased 240 hamburgers, 240 hotdogs and about 400 plates
- Discussion was held about whether or not we will continue to do the Hazelwood Harvestfest; we will decide in May of next year
NEW BUSINESS:
- A suggestion was made to check into comparing ITBS scores with those of public school standardized testing; Principal will check into this
- The Preschool Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 13th; the funding of this event now comes directly out of the Home and School budget
- We need to update our school brochure and get copies for the Fall Festival
Next meeting: Monday, October 8th at 6pm in the Main Building Teacher’s Lounge.
