ST. FERDINAND SCHOOL BOARD MINUTES
6:30 Opened with a prayer
Open Forum: None.
Principal’s Report:
- Handout reviewed: Tuition Report
- Matching Gift Accounts – Total contributions and matching received this year – St. Ferdinand $63,006.61; St. Martin De Porres $21,710.00.
- 2009-2010 registration numbers continue to be slightly above this time last year.
- The Math curriculum has been reviewed and updated by all grades to ensure the teaching of all core math skills. The Religion curriculum is in the process of being reviewed.
- The 50 computers from Lindenwood University will likely be ready for use in the fall since there is not much time to purchase and load the software before the end of this school year.
- Internet security software will be installed on the network on April 2. A filtering system will be installed soon.
Pastor’s Report:
- Father Jack explained the water pipe repairs which resulted in a “Water Day” off school on March 24.
- Northeast Deanery Initiative on Continuing Excellence in Catholic Education: The Ad-Hoc committee met with Bishop Hermann, who supports this process. He will be publishing an endorsement in an upcoming Review edition. Summit Engagement Teams (SET’s) continue to make progress.
Finance Committee:
Policy Committee: None.
Public Relations / Marketing Committee:
- The newspaper article suggestion was given to the Marketing committee.
Old Business:
- Two School Board nominations have been received to date. Nominations close on April 5, and elections will be on April 25/26 if necessary.
- St. Martin De Porres 8th graders have been offered the option by Father Wesloh to be confirmed at St. Ferdinand or at the Cathedral Basilica with their Parish.
New Business:
- The Fall Festival has drawn in few new families each year, and the board discussed the possibility of using Fall Festival funds for other needs this year.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 with a prayer by Father Jack.
