September Welcome to 6I
September finds 6I students learning to navigate different schedules every day, carrying books without dropping them, and enjoying the experience of multiple teachers for many subjects. 6I students are wearing smiles and meeting many challenges.
In Science we have made super cool cell models with very interesting items found in their home environment. The animal and cell models were expertly labeled and designed. We will continue this month with cell reproduction and heredity.
In Literature we are reading and studying the book, My Side of the Mountain, written by Jean Craighead George. We will end this novel study with a fun book project. After our novel study, we will continue to investigate the literary genre of fiction with short stories.
In Religion we have spent the first four weeks of school discussing character development and what it means to be a Christian friend and classmate. We have completed many group activities with the focus on What Would Jesus Do? The students have written beautiful prayers and poems addressing various problems that might come up as Sixth graders. We received new Bibles and created bookmarks with our favorite bible verses on them. We have completed chapter one in our textbook and will continue as September progresses. In October we will create and develop prayer services and take turns in groups sharing them.
