Here we are in the blessed season of Advent. Advent has a twofold character: as a season to prepare for Christmas when Christ's first coming to us is remembered; as a season when that remembrance directs the mind and heart to await Christ's Second Coming at the end of time.

In Advent we celebrate more than the future coming of Jesus. We also celebrate his coming in our world and his presence in the world today. When we pray, "Come Lord Jesus" with the Church during Advent, we pray knowing that Jesus is always with us.

May this beautiful season of Advent bring all of us closer to Christ.
