September....at month to catapult into the School Year
September is blast off to a grand school year!

This is an exciting month for the 8th graders of the Great 8M. The students have prepared a special mass with an enactment of the gospel. Various students held up posters depicting words that spoke to them as they listened to the gospel or the first reading. As the students prepared the skit of the gospel they practiced leadership skills, responsibility, and team work. The girls produced an interesting and meaningful skit.

What a wonderful dedication for the year. It is the 'Year for Priests". The class decided to adopt a priest. The students will correspond to a priest that they chose from the list of priests in various parishes. During the year the students will send a variety of communications such as flyers, notes, cards, and invitations. Using the various forms of technology the students created a flyer announcing to their priest that he was adopted! The flyers are creative and colourful.

September 18th the class will join eighth graders from the Northeast Deanery. They will attend a Deanery Confirmation Rally at Trintiy High School. This is in conjunction with Confirmation. Confirmation will be spearheaded by the one and only Father Post. Our students are fortunate to have a priest who knows the temperment of the young teenager and able to convey the importance and the Spirituality of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The school theme is "Growth Requires Change In....". The bullentin board shares examples of change in the student due to their growth. Each student shared how they grew in Body, Mind, Spirit, and Heart from last year to August. Each created their own card to be displayed. The theme growth with change hangs in the front of the room.

It is just around the corner...I am sure parents are saying, "Why it just seems like yesterday that he/she was in kindergarten" as they prepare to think about a high school for their child.
