October, the month of Our Blessed Mother " For it was You who created my being, knit me together in my mother's womb..."
|
| October is the month of Our Mother. It is brimming with events and special projects. |
October is upon the students of St. Ferdinand and it is developing into an exciting month.
Some of the eighth graders had their pets here for the Blessing of the Animals.
On the 12th of October the eighth graders prepared the 'Blue Mass'. This mass honoured all Firefighters and Police Officers. This is a nation wide mass established after 911 to honour all the men and women in blue. The students created banners and cards. The entire student body signed the cards and they were presented to the Firefighters and Police Officers during the mass. We thank those men and women who sacrifice their lives for us each day to give up protection and security.
During the month the students will see a play about Maximilian Kolbe. It is sponsored by the St. Louis Catholic Education Office. We know that Maximilian Kolbe died in the Auschwitz death-camp in 1941 in order to save a human life. Maximilian Kolbe has been made a saint by the Catholic Church for his humanity and concern for the lives and welfare of people.
The end of the first quarter will come to a close this month and reports sent home with the students for the parents to view before they come for conferences in November.
The students have been working in groups and will soon write their own Science Fiction short story.
