November a time to give Thanks. Thank you God for our mothers and fathers, our country and Cheez-Its!.
November a time to Remember and give thanks.

November brings colourful leaves and a colourful time in our educatin to reflect on respecting our bodies. What all God has made is good.

Students became aware of the magnificent man St. Maximillian Klobe was, in late October. They attended a one man play and learned of his life and devotion to our Blessed Mother, Our Immaculate Mother.

This month the students are focusing on another aspect of the Blue-print for life that Jesus gave us. Students and faculty are taking the opportunity to share in other's sorrows, when the the occasion arises. The school community is trying to be just to others in everyday situations. Throughout the year we have shared and helped our fellow classmates during difficult times, helping them through their sorrow and speaking out when we notice injustice.

The students have participated in the Right S.T.A.R.T., a program of the Respect Life Apostolate of the Archdiocese. One focus was on the body being made in the image of God and one way to glorify God is to respect the body. Another focus presented was that Chastity gives students or anyone the gift of freedom....freedom from physical diseases, freedom from worry, freedom to do things that one wants, freedom to be oneself, and freedom to pursue goals. Sound confusing?! If so please speak with any student in the eighth grade.

The students learned a great deal and reflected on the presentation. Below are some quotes from the students.....

"I learned that teenagers have the power to change the day..change tomorrow."

"I didn't realize all of the different ways women could have an abortion. It's so sad and horrible."

"There is an abortion every 20 seconds in the United State."

"I learned that the best gift I can give the person that I marry is my self, not having sex before I get married."

"I have a free will and can respect myself and not do drugs."

The students' essays on "What it is like to be homeless?" are completed. Three essays will be submitted. The contest is sponsored by the St. Patrick Centre and the K.I.C.K Committee (Kids Interested in Caring about Kids). The content of the essays is varied and the students have a desire to help.
