November is warming the students with the sun's rays, a mutlitude of personal thanksgivings, team activities, and the Great Penny War.
THANK YOU VETERANS FOR PRESERVING MY FREEDOMS AND THE FREEDOMS OF MY STUDENTS, THE FUTURE OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY...THE REPUBLIC OF AMERICA
The students have continued to pray for their adopted priest. Several students have had warm and thankful letters from the adopted priests. They have said that they like the program, they are thankful for the prayers and that they liked the Halloween cards.
The students had the opportunity to have Mr. Hargas speak about Viet Nam and the conflict that involved America. The students were able to see various artifacts from the soldier's life and learn first hand about the Conflict.
The mission project for the month of November is the Penny War. It has caused great excitement with the student body. This fundraiser is for the St. Ferdinand Tuition Assistance Program.
The object is to have the most points. In this Penny War, pennies are worth one point. So the students are throwing pennies in their classroom's jug and throwing silver coins and paper money in other classroom jugs. The reason is silver and paper currancy count as negative points. Only pennies counts as positive points. The eighth graders have been talling points each day and each day the Great 8M is usually last. It seems that through Miss Gearon's ribbing students are dumping silver and a twenty dollar bill in the Great 8's jug!!!! It is all in fun and the students are enjoying being in last place or near last place because it brings in money for a great school community cause.
The students are working on the second quarter book project. They are creating a book poster. These posters will be displayed in the hallway throughout the rest of the year.
Advent begins on 29 November.
As the yards are filled with leaves may your days be filled wiith as many blessings.
Jesus, give me the grace to follow your every directive.
