Lent - Sacrifices**** Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Lent and the student's sacrifices. Confirmation Gifts of the Holy Spirit......

Lent is a time of sacrifice and the students have made personal sacrifices. They have discovered that it is difficult at times. Some of the sacrifices that the students are making are: giving up sweets, soda, ice cream, chocolate candy, potato chips, cheeze-its and much more. Some of us have waited until 12 midnight to take a bite of cookie or candy bar! Is that cheating???????? No, but.....

In preparation for Confirmation the students have learned the meaning of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit that they first received in Baptism. One gift that the students find interesting is Courage. The gift of Courage allows us to do what is right even if it is hard. It enables us to stand up for our beliefs and to live as a follower of Christ. Another mentioned Gift is; Fear of the Lord or Wonder and Awe. This gift helps us recognize the majesty of God. It leads us to marvel at God's great Love for us.

After preparing the Mass for Wednesday of Holy Week the students learned that lenten means "spring time". Penance is a time of prayer, and from the first reading we learned that we might know how to speak to the weary. We learned that from the Gospel came the words Judas, a betrayer, of Jesus for 30 pieces of Silver. If we practice the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love we will be prepared for Easter.
