Welcome to Fifth Grade

Wow! Another school year has begun. I am excited to be teaching so many familiar faces. It is great to be back at school. I hope you had a wonderful, relaxing summer. The children have talked about things they did during the summer. They are ready to delve in and work hard.

I consider it a privilege and an honor to teach your children. I am looking forward, with enthusiasm, to teaching your children. The school year has started and the children are excited to be back at school. The children are prepared, ready to go, and have fallen into the swing of things.

Please encourage your child to do his/her best. Make sure he/she gets plenty of sleep. Remind your child to fill in the assignment notebook accurately. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. I strongly believe in parent communication.

The children may bring a snack each day. I encourage healthy snacks. No chocolate or candy is allowed for snacks. Due to the weather, the children may bring water bottles to school. I ask that if the water bottle is cold, the children wrap something around the bottle so it does not leave condensation on their desks or papers.

Here are a few dates to remember:

September 6 Back to School BBQ

September 12 Faculty meeting, 12:00 dismissal

September 15-19 Student Council Campaign – Encourage your child to consider running for class representative

September 19 – Progress Reports are sent home – Please be sure to sign and return a copy

September 22-26 - ITBS testing - It is very important to come to school every day this week, if at all possible. We start testing right away so I would appreciate the students arriving on time. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast. The children will need several #2 pencils and a good eraser. Encourage your children to do their best and let them know they may not know some of the material covered on the test.

Enjoy the month of September!
