Gym Classes Are Up and Running!

Welcome to gym class! We're off to a great start! The students have done very well already in their newly formed "running squads." We are building our endurance and working towards achieving our best, rather than comparing ourselves to others.

The students have done a wonderful job these first few weeks as everyone has adjusted to a new school year. With any new year, comes changes. I have seen the children growing and making positive changes already as we settle into our class routine which consists of prayer, taking attendance, jogging in our running squads (Grades 2-8), playing a game or sport and finally finishing up the class period with our exercises.

We have enjoyed several games, such as Radioactive River, Frogs and Ants, Mystery Puzzle Race, Cooperative Handball and Foam Ball Passover which encourage cooperation in small group situations. We have learned that we can have fun working together to accomplish a common goal. The younger students have also enjoyed "center time" in gym where they've worked on skills such as throwing, skipping, kicking, and catching in small groups. We're enjoying various sports too, such as Disc or Firsbee Golf. Ask your student if he/she can tell you how the Frisbee was invented. (Here'a a hint: A baking company had something to do with it!).

As we continue our classes this quater, we'll continue to focus on our school's theme this year: Growth requires change in Body, Mind, Spirit and Heart. In gym classs, it's great to see so many boys and girls who are gving their best effort as they run their way to that positive change in body! Keep up the good work and positive attitudes!
