Happy Birthday Jesus!!

Hello Homeroom KX Parents,

This is an exciting month! We are anxiously awaiting the birth of Jesus. We made an Advent calendar to keep track of how many days until Christmas. The children were also given a list of activities to do each day to prepare the way for baby Jesus. We have made many Christmas projects focusing on the true meaning of Christmas. We've also made some fun Santa projects.

We have 59 sight words so far, and we are using our phonics skills to read also. Using the phonics skills and sight words together has really helped us decode words and read with more fluency. We are also working on how many syllables are in each of our names. The children really like clapping out the sounds of their first and last names. Please keep reading at home and take advantage of the Pizza Hut and Pasta House reading incentives.

In Math, we are working with number order, ordinal numbers, adding, and counting. We work on lots of different math concepts everyday through our calendar. Subtraction will come soon.

We had lots of fun for Polar Express Day. We watched the movie and did many fun Christmas activities. Mrs. Santa Claus also came for a visit.

We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2009. Check back with us in January 2009.
