Hello and Happy New Year to all! Here is a taste of what we've been learning in third grade.
In religion we have been learning and discussing all of the different sacraments. We also created a God's Winter Wonderland mural. This was an activity that we did during religion class. The students were put into groups of two,and they had to create a winter scene that God would be happy about. The children had a good time working on this, and they really cooperated well together. We also have been working on our virtue of the month, fortitude. We have been discussing how one would know if the choices we make are good ones or not.
In reading we continue to work on many different reading skills and strategies. We enjoy working in partners or groups during reading time.
In math class we just finished the basic multiplication unit. We took our test this week and everyone in the class either received an A or B. I was very excited and proud of them. They were very happy too!!!!! We will begin our next chapter on division soon.
As we inch closer to the beginning of Catholic Schools week we are writing essays on what Catholic Education means to us. I attended Catholic Schools all of my life, and I will always appreciate my parents for what they sacrificed for me to have a good Catholic education. Catholic Schools Week is a fun time for the students and faculty. We have many activities planned for the week.
This is just a brief overview as to what we are learning in the classroom. We are a very eager, excitable, and creative group that I truly enjoy teaching. Stay warm during this cold winter and we will be back for another update in February.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kreitner and third grade
