Waiting for Jesus
We are celebrating Advent!

We are happily preparing for Jesus' birthday. We are bringing joy to the world with prayers and good deeds. Each Monday and Thursday we light the Advent wreath, say a prayer, and sing a song as a school preparing our hearts for Jesus' birth. We are doing good deeds too. We are keeping track of both by adding a P for prayers and an X for good deeds to form a chi-ro decoration on a Christmas tree as our special gift for Jesus!

There are special feast days in December. December 6 is St. Nicholas Day. He was a saint who gave to poor children. December 8 is the feast of the Immaculate Conception. It is a Holy Day of Obligation so we are off school so we can celebrate Mary's conception without sin at Mass. On December 12 is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This is a special feast day for our Hispanic friends. Juan Diego recieved an imprint of the Blessed Mother on his tilma when he did as she asked and had a church built for her.

Our class entered a Holy Childhood Association drawing contest this month. Everyone was invited to submit a drawing for next year's Christmas Mission stamps. We think ours look beautiful whether we win or not!

We want to wish everyone a happy Advent which will lead to a very blessed Christmas!
