Light the Way
With God's guidance, we will find our vocations!

During January, we are celebrating vocations. Many of you have thought about what you’d like to do when you grow up, ball player or doctor, but have you been thinking and praying about your vocation? Your vocation is the way God wants you to live your life with Him. It is not too soon to start asking God what it should be. Is God calling you to be a single person, married, a priest or sister? We will only know through prayer and faith where God wants us to serve.

God may call you to a single life. You would honor and serve God by living according to the laws of love and by helping others whenever possible.

God may call you to married life. You, along with your spouse, might serve God by treating each other kindly. You may have children to teach about God or you may help others in the community by doing volunteer work.

God may call you to the religious life of a priest or sister. As a sister you would dedicate your life to God. You would be able to help others learn to know and love Him. As a priest you would dedicate your life to God and to ministering to God’s people.

You are never too young to start asking God where He wants you to serve Him. During this special month of Vocation Awareness let’s pray each day for God to guide us and for the courage to listen to His voice.

As part of Vocatiion Month, we entered an Archdiocesan sponsored vocation prayer contest. The theme was “Light the Way”. Here are some of our entries.

Dear Jesus, We thank you for all you do. We ask now, dear Jesus, to help us follow you! Amen

Light the way so we can follow. I hope I will be a sister. Give me the courage I need. Help me find my way. Teach me to be nice. Amen

Jesus, light the way. I will pray you will help me choose what I could be some day: a sister? married? single? Jesus, help me! Amen

Lord, should I be a priest? Is it what I should do? God, can you help me? Help me please, Lord, Then I”ll follow you. Amen
