What’s Happening in Room Q
Religion:
This week we will be learning that Jesus taught us that all people are our neighbors. We will be identifying ways to be a good neighbor to others.
Reading/Phonics:
In reading and phonics, we will be working on the short e sound. Here are some short e words to practice at home: Ed, led, test, tell, fed, bed, peg, bend, fell, pen, ten, and yet. Our high frequency words this week are: who, no, some, of, eat.
Grammar:
In grammar, we will be learning about plural nouns. We will be writing stories about helping out at home. After the students complete their stories they will circle the plural nouns that they used in their stories.
Math:
In math, we are learning how to use number lines to help us with addition. The students will also be learning about addition patterns. They will be able to identify and complete addition patterns with sums up to 12.
Spelling:
We have a spelling test on Friday, November 6. The words are leg, beg, let, get, men, hen, who, some.
Social Studies:
Our topic this week is city, town, and suburb. We will be describing the differences in features among a city, a town, and a suburb. The students will use this information to figure out if they live in a city, town, or suburb.
Science
Why do the leaves change colors? Why are some leaves red? Why are some leaves crunchy and brown? Why do the leaves fall of the trees? We will be investigation fall this week to answer these questions.
