January - Showing Fortitude

Greetings and happy new year! Welcome to another edition of 7P news. This month we are focusing on the Catholic virtue of fortitude, which deals with showing courage in difficult situations. Students have picked out a saint to read about and write how this person has exemplified this virtue. Here is what else we are doing...

**In Religion, students have been presenting their Mary projects and leading the class in prayer services honoring our lessed Mother. We have had a lot of fun trying to learn the Hail Mary in 8 different languages (tough stuff!), locating different places around the world named for Our Mother, as well as sharing our knowledge of Mary through scripture and prayer.

**In Social Studies, we are continuing our study of the American Revolution, keeping a battle log to organize important battle information. We will also be beginning a creative timeline of important events and acting out a scene from this era.

**In Literature, we have begun a novel study of Bud, Not Buddy. We have enjoyed getting to know 10-year-old Bud Caldwell from 1936 Flint, Michigan. Students have begun a project in the computer lab making flyers for a Depression-era jazz artist/band. We will conclude our study of the book by making a book jacket.

Other important news...
