Fall Has Arrived!

Happy October from Homeroom 6P! What a beautiful fall we've been blessed with so far! We are thankful for God's many gifts to this class: for good health, our safety, and our time shared together in prayer and learning. We are very excited to share with you some of the events and projects we have been working on in Room P this month. Here's what we've been up to:

**In religion, students have been discussing the importance of free will, human dignity, and being stewards of creation. We have also been using our bibles quite a bit to explore the mysteries of light, as well as some stories we hear on Sunday during the Gospel. During the month of October, we will be discussing our virtue of the month - Respect.

**In social studies, we are currently working on a geography project comparing and contrasting two different regions of the United States. Together in groups, students have worked to find out information on the vegetation, climate, waterways, and precipitation of these regions. We're looking forward to sharing these with our classmates in mid-October.

**In literature, students have been reading a classic of children's literature: Where the Red Fern Grows. They have really enjoyed relating to Billy and his adventures with his beloved hunting dogs, and now students are working to put together a book report poster outlining the events of the story. We are also beginning to look at our unit on poetry. We're experimenting right now with writing cinquains, and we hope to move in to haikus soon!

**In spelling, we're focusing on getting our pledges in for Spell-A-Thon and preparing ourselves for a challenging week of tests. Collect those pledges and study extra hard!!!
