April Showers...

Greetings from Homeroom 6P! It's been a VERY rainy Spring so far, and yet, we've been washed anew. As the trees begin to bud forth and tulips start to wake from their winter rest, we are mindful of the changes that have occurred within us since the rising of Christ. We are thankful for the seed of faith planted in our hearts, especially during this Easter season.

As the 6th graders begin the second half of fourth quarter, they are starting on several large projects. In honor of the start of the baseball season, students are making "trading cards" for saints. Students choose five saints to research and make a "trading card" complete with a picture, symbol, and biography of the saint's life. They are having a wonderful time learning about the lives of these holy men and women of our Church.

In social studies, students are working on making a travel brochure for a South American country of their choice. They will try to "sell" their destination when they present their brochures towards the end of April.

Finally, in literature, students are beginning work on a project of their choice to display the knowledge they have learned from their nonfiction books, ranging from making a "Wanted" poster to putting on a puppet show. Their enthusiasm for this unique method of "book reporting" is growing, and we look forward to seeing what we can do!

Dates to remember:

**April 18th -- noon dismissal for faculty meeting

**April 21st -- no school for Spell-a-thon incentive program

**April 22nd -- progress reports go home
