Middle School Science
|
| Academics Mrs.Westrich |
In middle school science we first discussed and learned lab safety rules. Then we moved on to learning how to use the microscopes and the balances. We had fun using these two instruments.
The sixth grade is studying life science beginning with animal and plant cells. We were able to make comparisons utilizing the microscopes and we made life-size diagrams of each. We are now studying the differences of plant and animal cells and are moving on to learn relationships between cell parts and their functions.
The seventh grade is studying Inside Earth. We have learned about Earth's interior, heat transfer and plate tectonics. We just completed a two day lab pertaining to the theory of Continental Drift. The seventh grade is also working on projects demonstrating key concepts from Chapter one.
The eighth grade is learning about Earth in space. We've studied Earth's rotation and revolution, the moon, eclipses and tides. Soon we will begin to investigate the solar system.
All middle school science students have been utilizing science binders. These should prove to be helpful when studying for their assessments. Science concepts build upon each other and there is much vocabulary.
